FAQ

What is a Masternode?

Masternodes are servers that run a DINERO wallet and make decisions, such as coordinate mixing of coins, and voting on budget funding. Masternodes are required to have 5000 DIN collaterals, a dedicated IP address, and be able to run 24 hours a day… Masternodes get paid a percentage of the block reward on every block, which is distributed to masternodes one at a time.

What is the reward for running a Masternode?

You can find this in our FAQ section of the webpage.

How long does it take after starting a masternode to switch to enabled?

When you first start your node, it can take up to 30 minutes to switch from either PRE_ENABLED or Watchdog_Expired to ENABLED. Do not be alarmed and do not restart the alias. Every time the alias is restarted the process has to start over again.

How long before I receive my first payment?

The first payment is always the longest. You can expect it to take up to 12 hours longer than the payments received after that. The reasoning for this is it takes the network a bit of time to find and accept your node as part of the system.

TROUBLESHOOTING

What should I do when my masternode is in:

  • You will need to log into your VPS and ensure the wallet is running. To do so you type the following (removing the quotes) “dinerocore-1.0.0/bin/dinerod -daemon”
  • You will then need to go to your local wallet and restart the alias found on your masternodes tab.
  • You will need to log into your VPS and ensure the wallet is running. To do so you type the following (removing the quotes) “dinerocore-1.0.1/bin/dinerod -daemon”
  • You will then need to go to your local wallet and restart the alias found on your masternodes tab.
  • Watchdog_Expired can happen for a number of reasons. The basic reasoning for Watchdog_Expired is sentinel is not running.

The first step is making sure both your local wallet and your node are updated to the latest wallet release found here.

The next step is the try and run the following command on your VPS (removing the quotes)

“cd.dinerocore/sentinel && ./venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py

If it returns nothing that means, it’s now working. You may have to edit the cron using “crontab -e” and make sure that it is correct

If it returns a failed code, please check the following.

Invalid masternode status: You may need to restart the local wallet alias and try again. If that does not work, you may have an issue with your dinero.conf.

Cannot connect to daemon. Either your wallet is not running in VPS or there is a configuration issue in dinero.conf

If you are having trouble following these steps or have followed these steps and still can’t get it back to enabled the best way to contact us for masternode support is in our discord channel here.
